I had Justice set up our conference room for a meeting with Tam Lin. To our surprise, she said both Sushi and Pasta would be attending. Justice made seating available for the two twelve-foot-tall aliens. When they arrived, they made arrangements to take Kenna off our hands. Tam Lin said he would be relocated to another outpost with a new ID chip. I informed her I needed Enochey for a temporary assignment. She was good with that because they were still working to get his store properly outfitted. She was also still working on a good background for Enocheyâs new cover name.
I inquired what that might be, and she gave me a silly smile. âNathan.â She said. âWhat name do you associate with, when you think of spying?â
I havenât been away from Earth as long as Tam, but really couldnât come up with a good answer to her question.
She shook her head. âNathan, are you going alien on me or what? It only makes sense to call him Bond!â
It was a no brainer and I should have guessed. âJust Bond?â I said.
âNo, Bond Connery!â She replied with a chuckle.
I just shook my head and smiled. How fitting. Now that his cover name was official, we would no longer call the Coram, Enochey. He had a new ID chip and a new life from this point forward. My crew gave me blank stares but nodded in agreement.
âTam, would you please have Bond Connery report to the Legacy.â
I thought about it a little longer and told her to wait. I reached into my uniform and pulled out a handful of credit vouchers.
I pulled one out at random and gave it to Tam. âGive this to Bond and send him to Osaâs fine wearables. Tell him to have a complete wardrobe made up. I donât give a crap what it cost. Just tell him to be aboard the Legacy within the next three hours.â
Tam Lin took the card and nodded. âConsider it done.â She said.
I knew Bond would have no problem getting the job done in the time I was allotting him. Once Osa had his bodily dimensions, it was just a matter of picking out the materials and putting them into his fabrication machine. As long as he wasnât very picky, he would be outfitted in no time.
Klutch was talking to Sushi and Pasta. By the looks on their faces, he must have broken the news to them about the Sig mercenaries. I could tell it troubled them. I heard Pasta tell Klutch, they got what they deserved.
Sushi gave me a report on El Dorado. âCommander Myers, I am happy to report the repairs to the mine are well ahead of schedule. The atmospheric locks are in place and the environmental scrubbers are functioning at maximum capacity. The cleanup phase will be complete within the next forty-eight hours. Tam Lin is still sorting out the work crews and working on the operational shifts. Once that is done, we will stock the mine with enough supplies for a startup and shake down of the three work shifts.
